ok this was a cute little book.
more seriously the prose was poetic and descriptive (my favorite kind), i enjoyed the beauty and the beast aspect, and enna was a nice MC.
the romance starts to get more heavy handed around the 100 page mark, but its YA, and only under 300 pages. i enjoyed them overall so it wasn’t a serious issue for me.
if your looking for the dark fairytale version of a romance book this is a viable option!
though, heed all content warnings.

I listened to the audio book- and the narrator did such a good job with the male voices, I am stunned it was only one person reading.
Story wise, I almost stopped reading on account of the incredibly toxic relationship forming between the two main characters, built up by lies, sexual attraction and the need to survive. The end, however, won me over and pacified any complaints I might have had. Beautiful writing and a very thoughtful book.
