3.3 AVERAGE

In a world full of Fame & Melancholy, in this book Grand Storyteller Paulo Coelho Makes You Travel through the corners of Continents in which the Search For the eternal & Everlasting Love, which, though Proceeds Slothfully for its Wait for the right time & its own process of rediscovering the meaning of life, ultimately Triumphs & Echoes One Perpetual Truth: "Love is an untamed truth & it manifests itself in the way it wants to be".
Though, this Book Doesn't Quite Impact the Reader comparing to his Most other books, nevertheless,it Keeps You Struck on it For His Unique Spiritual Teachings & More-or-less Just For its Kinda Okay type of Plot ?_?

Coelho always makes me think not only about my life & the choices that I'm making, but about love and freedom and perception, and what it all really means. This book didn't disappoint. You knows maybe it will even change your life?

Struck me as self-obsessed from the start...but perhaps that's the point- but absorbing,so I had to complete it. Not sure I would bother with other books....

I can't decide whether this is a profound book or a superficial one.

The protagonist is a novelist living in Paris, rather like the author himself, whose wife disappears without a trace, and he becomes obsessed, not so much with finding her as with discovering why she left him. This leads him to some deep (or shallow) philosophical reflection, from which he concludes that in order to discover himself as a person he needs to forget and erase his personal history.

Since the protagonist is a writer and in many ways resembles the author, I fount parts of it have me an incentive to work on things that I myself am writing. Those bits made me want to give it four stars. But part of his personal history, which he wants to erase, is that his wife was the one who inspired him to write in the first place, and when he goes on about that, in a rather banal and boring way, I want to give it one or two stars. In the end I compromised and gave it three stars.

this took me so long to finish bc i got super busy

This was my first Paulo Coelho book and I was underwhelmed. Coelho's writing is amazing though; his words flow amazingly and it's so easy to read. However, I wasn't very happy with the storyline. I admit I didn't understand the whole concept and it confused me quite a bit. This book just wasn't my cup of tea, but I would still read his other books because I loved his writing style.

Este libro me gusto, pero debo admitir que me dejo un poco insatisfecha. Un poco lento la historia, pero dejando a eso aun lado es un buen libro.

My first of Coehlo's books--intriguing at times, but I didn't completely identify with the character. Wonder what's lost in the translation from Portuguese. Am having a much better time with "The Witch of Portobello". Like the feminine.

3.5 stars.
