Emily wrote another winner! Tess and Ryan are so cute its painful. Ryan is the perfect golden retriever boyfriend from the blonde hair to the attitude. Tess is a mess but she knows it and improves through the whole book. I appreciate that this book incorporated Pucking Arounds "fearsome foursome" as it added context and made the book more interesting. I will say that even though there was never truly a miscommunication argument there might have well have been. Tess was constantly pulling away citing how messed up and damaged she was (she definitely needed/needs serious therapy after the whole ordeal) and it became tiresome after the third time it happened. Its hard not to get repetitive when a book is 600+ pages.

"Life is beautiful and short, and you only get one. Live it on purpose."

Tess Owens has been trying, in vain, to extract herself from her abusive ex-husband for three years. They're separated in every way, except for on paper, but somehow she still feels twisted up and enmeshed with him. When he crosses a line and threatens her, she does what she does best and runs. Straight to Jacksonville, straight to the people she knows she can trust - and a man she feels a magnetic pull to.

I AM A W R E C K. I'll never recover from this book. Emily put her entire heart and soul into telling a story that has so much hope and joy and hardship in it and I'm a total disaster. I can't even tell you how many times this brought brought me to tears. Or the sheer amount of times I highlighted swaths of quotes. Tess's story hit different for so many reasons, but at the end of the day it made me ache in the best of ways.

I'll try to be as non-spoilery as possible, but I cannot write this review without saying that the ending? Best ending Emily could have written. Hands down. It made me want to curl up in a ball and sob. I'm SO glad that she chose the route she did for it, and it wrapped up the heavy plotline in a beautiful way that felt realistic and wonderful. I already know I'll be revisiting this, not only for Ryan Puppy Langley, but also when I need to remind myself that life is short.

Ily Emily Rath, I can't wait to cry about Tess and Ryan in Pucking Ever After Vol. 2.

Emily Rath has a special talent for making her characters feel real. They’re aspirational, relatable, and often unpredictable.

Tess Owens is 33yrs old and in the middle of a drawn out divorce. She’s a strong, successful, independent plus-sized woman who also happens to have what seems to be a fearful-avoidant attachment style. Just when you think you know what’s going on in her head and what she’ll do next, she flips the script. She’d blame it on being a Gemini, but it’s deeper than that. And the only person who really gets her is Ryan.

Ryan “Puppy” Langley, is a 22yr old NHL hockey player. He’s young, but he has his head on straight. He’s focused and committed to making the most of his career so he can help take care of his family. Ryan likes the structure and routine hockey gives his life, but what does every Virgo need if not a Gemini to come spice up their life. (And spice it up does she!🔥)

Pucking Wild is the story of a young man who falls first and slowly earns the trust of a woman who’s been hurt too many times. She helps him break outside of his routine and open up while he helps her truly see and believe that she’s not alone in this world. There is sexual tension, there is spice, there is friendship, there is found family, there is even a villain, but as with all romance books, there is redemption and a happily ever after.

This is the second book in the Jacksonville Ray Series. The books can be read as stand-alone, but are interconnected so you’ll get to see all your favorite characters again! The first book in this series is Pucking Around which is an MMFM book so by default the first book is a spicier, but don’t count out Tess and Ryan, they can each hold their own in the bedroom.

Disclosure: I received a free Arc of this book with no obligation to post a review
