Read this for a book club and pretty much feel completely indifferent towards it but Huck Finn saying he'd rather go to hell than let Jim go back into slavery was kind of based. I'll probably give James a try because it'll likely be more my speed and I'm curious what Percival Everett will do with it.

Only read it cause I want to read “James.” Tolerated it well enough until Hick Finn showed up toward the end - then I just wanted it to be over. Never read it in high school… but if this is one of the classic canon pieces, no wonder so many kids think reading is a chore. 🙄
