This story had a good beginning. I enjoyed Huck and Jim's early adventures;

however, the story took an unenjoyable turn when Twain introduced two additional characters into their adventures. Then, once rid of them, it took an additional unenjoyable turn when he reintroduced Tom Sawyer into the story.

I did enjoy how things played out in the end.

Today, a story such as this proves to be a difficult read because of the attitudes portrayed towards slaves/slavery and because of the racial language used to tell the story.

I just didnt feel anything for the book. I read and loved James before so i wanted to read this book for the context of it all. What I found was just uninteresting. It almost surprises me that James came from the shadows of this book. Maybe if I kept going with it I would enjoy it later but the only thing keeping me was that it is what James is based on.
