Reread: I still love this, especially for the scenes with Music and Geoffrey Charles House Cooling Party!

This book picked up right where the Miller's Dance ended, which helped resolve the high tension that ended the last book. It was nice to have parts with Geoffrey Charles, Verity, Drake and Morwenna since there has been so little of them since the time jump. I can't help but draw parallels with between the Valentine and Selina and Ossie and Morwenna, although I think Selina will be a stronger than Morwenna. I'm still anxious for Jeremy and hope that his happiness doesn't end suddenly.

At the point the Poldarks are some of my dearest literary friends. It’s so fun to take a weekend escape to Cornwall. This one continued to suck me right in. I love them dearly. And I love seeing their kids growing up and making lives of their own.

Another fine entry in the Poldark series. It’s a book that feels like preparation for the next, although some story arcs are partially resolved. It’s an interesting time in the background too : the APPARENT end of Napoleon’s reign.

As the tenth book in the series, it is much better to have read the others first. This is not a series where one can jump in at any point and follow the plot easily. The Poldark saga is the only series I have read where the author took a long hiatus and returned to the story without the characters having altered their fundamental characteristics in any significant way. This volume continues to follow the exploits of the Poldark's and other related people against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, and British regency political maneuvering. The loves and lives of the Poldarks continue to enthrall.

Docked one quarter star for continued mistakes in regard to female clothing of the era. Even when this was written basic research was possible to get such things correct.  He's two or more decades off with his talk of shirtwaists and blouses.

"Each one of us is unique. So one grain of dust is not just like another. There may be 5 or 5 which will create the spark in you-the electric spark-but twould not be quite the same spark in each case, never altogether the same....

This book was full of excitement and suspense. Twists and turns that I was not expecting...I can't wait to see what happens next for the whole Poldark crew.

3.5 out of 5 stars. As always, I immensely enjoyed Graham's writing and his weaving of historical events into this saga. I was disappointed that Clowence decided to marry Stephen even though he is still the jerk he has always been. I'm not sure how I feel about Demelza covering up Jeremy's involvement in criminal activity, though I am glad Jeremy had a happy outcome with Cuby.
