While this book was a lot more slower than love and other inconveniences, I still really enjoyed myself. I liked how everything connected to the other book, loved the new characters and since I’m a genuine hockey fan, i actually did like reading the hockey details and all those parts, if you aren’t really into hockey then those parts may seems a little slow or not as interesting unfortunately.
I absolutely loved Blake and Elliot sooo much. Their interactions, growth overtime etc was a joy to read. Definitely a real slow burn so be prepared, but definitely worth the wait. I always want these books to last a little longer to flesh out some things even more, but overall i’ve been loving reading this author’s books.

I like it . Having two authors writing in a way you deem likable is like having 2 Christmases.
I think this will be a comfort read in years to come. It’s a slow-paced, low heat love story that doesn’t break your heart or fill it with angst: it just cradles it gently. And I don’t know about anyone else, but my heart can use a lot of cradling these days and this book was enormously comforting.
I like the premise, I love the "lovers torn apart by the sports but can't keep away from each other", but this was so... strange?
We get 5 pages where they say goodbye and "break up" their non-relationship, and then for the rest of the first half of the book we just see both Blake and Elliot just... date other people for years? And that fricking hurt, man. I was lowkey invested and I wanted them together so badly, but Blake just got a friends with benefits for years and Elliot dated a girl for 3 years? And I was getting desperate to see them get back together around the 50% mark.
And when they did get together (-ish) it was cute and adorable but lowkey too easy, compared to all the pain the first half made me go through? I don't know anymore, I don't know what I think.
Three kisses, because three has always been his lucky number, and when he was seventeen there was nothing as lucky as kissing Blake Samuels.
I really liked how the book took its time to show the guys having friendships and other relationships beyond romance, that was cute af. I wish Charlie didn't have a crush on Blake but if that means he is getting his own book, I'll get over it, he is adorable. Wished we saw more of Blake's brother too. The family drama made me sad for the brothers. But yeah, Mattie, Adam, Charlie... These were pretty nice to see, see Blake & Elliot have a life beyond each other. Time to go read Noah's book now, by the way.
Again, I'm not sure I even enjoyed this so much, the writing was kind of a mess. The narration felt soo faraway from the actual characters it was literally just TELLING the reader what was happening there was so much distance between the narrative voice and the characters. Which is probably why both character voices were so damn similar, it could have all been the same character. I was so shocked to learn that Elliot was supposed to be a... sunshine character? This NEVER came across during his chapters, he felt so similar to Blake.
They had their adorable moments though, and even if the story doesn't really give a definite conclusion on their relationship, I still enjoyed the second half of the books where they let themselves show how much they care about and trust each other.
- I appreciate the way their partners were handled, they didn't become part of like a cheating plot or some trope like that (I love noah)
- my main issue is the structure of the book where the first 1/3 of the book is kinda whatever to me? and also I wish the ending had more, simply because I love them so yeah, if the balance between the relationship and hockey matches was more consistent throughout the book I'd enjoy it more
I guess what I'm saying is that because the author is so talented, and her stories have such great potential, I would love to read something from her in which she takes it to the next level or two.
