I really enjoyed Invision while I was reading it, but after finishing, I just don't love it. My biggest complaint is that Nick does not grow. Sure, we find out interesting things about the people around him and he has a fair amount of angst. But there's no deep test of his character, only mildly interesting plot points and a twist (of course).
Oh why did I read this, I should have waited till the other book was out. @_@ What a cliffhanger. How the Hell does Nick have a son, when did that happen and he's on the bad side. who is this Nathan kid who pops up in this book, so many questions unanswered in this book.
The series is quite funny makes me laugh out loud at times.

Felt like too many things were introduced, and despite the story progressing, none of the new things were needed for that to happen

I love this spin off of the dark hunters but I'm finding them. A little confusing with the meantioning of lots of bit characters. It was also a little wordy for what happened but will definitely continue with the series
First book in the series where I feel like the rhythm got lost. Way too many flashbacks and flashforwards that were tragically overused to give character depth. While throughout the series characters were occasionally given to extended inspirational speeches and sermons, this book had way too many monologues that were just talking for the sake of talking. Nick's normally humorous smartassery became a caricature. Nekoda lost all her badassery and became a cardboard cutout of a vapid girlfriend. The cast of Nick's crew is growing rapidly, but each losing their distinct characteristics.
And the narrator completely lost his ability to keep the voices straight. Forget the horrible accents - every voice including the main character's was inconsistent.

WHAT!?!?! That is what I shouted out when I finished this book. What the freak. Seriously, it was a good ending... and then the epilogue, oh dear it leaves you on a cliff hanger. HHAHAHA, glad the 8th book came out last fall and hope it doen't end on a cliff hanger too. :-/ ;-)
Soo I love SK, have read all her books and will continue to do so, but this is the first book I've given 3 stars and this is why. First let me mention that I had to go back and re-read Instinct and even as I was reading it I remembered non of it. It was apparently very forgettable and I think this book will be too. The plot was slow, I'm losing track of the genealogies, i felt like I had missed a book or novella since Instinct (if I did someone please tell me) because I don't recall when Xev was outed at Nicks great-grandfather (keep in mind I had just read the previous book and there is no mention of this), having Kody be a reincarnation seemed too convenient, and I failed to understand how some of the visions were related to the current crisis. However, I still love SK, and i'm hopeful that all will be explained in time. Plus the epilogue made it impossible not to want to keep reading!
