What an amazing read. The imagery was beautiful. The story embodies queer connection and healing through community, even if that community can't always be with you.

Tillie Walden has such a knack for emotional, atmospheric works where I always feel like I'm missing something - and like that's exactly how things are supposed to be. Also, as always, the artwork is stunning.

Tillie Walden's work always hits right in the gut. No other comic artists' work makes me feel the way her books make me feel. She's able to create such silence, such expansive space, tension in a way that leaves me floored every time. I am always left feeling happy that I met each character and wishing I had more time on the page with them.

Definitely check the trigger warnings for this one, I unfortunately did not and it brought up some rough memories for me.

So I want to talk about the art work first. The color palette of muted mauves, peaches, purples, and flashes of blues, yellows, and reds were woven so beautifully in an art style that felt beautifully dreamy. The winding roads, and picturesque landscapes softened by soft brushstrokes and feathered textures. I often caught myself pausing while reading to take in a scene or a picture.
On the story-telling--
This was beautifully dreamy. The dialogue was touching and I felt grounded by very real emotions and difficult topics. Magical scenes and a touch of mystery flit in and out of real life hardship that made the intake of the story pleasant. It was a perfectly balanced story-telling and I can see myself gifting this experience to friends along the way.
