3 // i truly adore all that tillie walden does and puts out every time! she gets it, and the girls that get it, GET IT!

i will say i felt slightly less connected to this than some of her other work and did feel that the emotional hits and ties i was supposed to have for and with the characters fell a bit flat.

The reason it took me so long to read this is that it was making my heart ache and I had to take a break to soak it all in before continuing. Her art style (which is absolutely phenomenal) always manages to show the beauty, vastness and loneliness of places which fit the plot and theme of this perfectly.

This is only the second work of Tillie's I've read but it's safe to say I'm going to seek out all of her work now; everything she writes is so beautiful and heartfelt and I want to read/see it all!!

Loved the mix of straightforward messages and metaphor, was 'weird' in the ways I enjoy.

It’s a very touching story of the connection between two deeply hurt people, attempting to find themselves by running away from what hurts.
The only reason for my lower rating is that I found the ending somewhat confusing. Due to its medium being typically fast-paced, I felt like I didn’t have enough time to process all the information that came at the end, thus not managing to grasp as much of the meaning. I wish information was more evenly distributed so that the reader would have time to digest the contents.
