This is a good book, but it is too quick of a read and feels incomplete. I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a must-read, though I do appreciate this story. Kind of reminds me of Laurie Halse Anderson’s Skin, only dealing with different themes.

“I think everything you do and everything people do to you leaves a mark, or at least it affects who you are.”

i wish the part of the story where things start to look up for kim was longer! still, i think the book captured the heaviness of being a teen in a nuanced way and i liked the wiccan/90s toronto backdrop.

i kept waiting for the trauma of a teacher-student relationship to be addressed more significantly, and i don’t think that really happened

This book has great character voice and I think the illustrations are beautiful but ultimately I’m left unsatisfied. The story feels like it ends too soon. It either needed a stronger narrative voice to the ending or it needed more time to work out the themes that were only just starting to be explored.

While the art and writing is well crafted, I was not the right audience for this graphic novel. While it's a coming of age story, and I think it has honest reflections of being in a girl's school that redeem the work, I really should have checked the trigger warnings.

I was neither prepared or happy with the pedophilia involved that doesn't really get addressed.
