This is a book written by a retired navy SEAL with a picture on the front of a scowling male face. I wasn't at all prepared for the fuzzy underbelly Willink immediately exposed. There's an anecdote where the author solved his conflict of personality with an arrogant entrepreneur by saying, "you know, I really admire you." "I admire you too, bro!" I'll admit a lump came to my throat when they hugged it out. Beyond the warm fuzzies, Willink does an excellent job of specifying techniques to take yourself out of the heat of the moment and do what needs to be done.

So much to unpack. Great wisdom and advice. Obviously reflective of vast experience in the field, yet applicable to many other environments in life.

Leadership through how you can help the “team” win instead of the individual self.

Great book on leadership that mirrors and reinforces many of the same principles and tactics found in other leadership books.
I found the style quite easy and actionable to read but the military examples, which I understand Willink uses as it's where his leadership principles are learned from, can be hard to make fully actionable in a business world. Perhaps that is an exercise, to try and move this learning from the military arena to a business arena, that will help in comprehending and living out these principles as a leader.
I also missed more of an introduction to the principles which I thought boiled down to a few principles, but instead every small chapter was focusing on a situation where the same few principles were used over and over. Perhaps his other books such as Extreme Ownership and Dichotomies of Leadership are the ones that are more principle-focused leaving this to show the action and how it relates.

In any case, it's still a great book on leadership.

Very good book, I have read it already twice. The book elaborates and exemplifys leadership principles of author´s earlier book Extreme ownership. It contains a lot of practical advices for leaders at any level, and even though it draws from author´s military carrier the principles and procedures are universal and applicable in any profession. Highly recommended.

Completely focused on leadership. Found some nuggets in there. Better to use Audible than reading if you like his podcast.
