I didn’t like this as much as I liked Slippery Creatures. I thought the overall idea was really intriguing and interesting, but I struggled with the writing and the pacing of this book. I didn’t like the smuggling plot very much and it took me awhile to finish the audiobook. The characters were well written and I liked the side characters, but I don’t know if I will be finishing the series.

A very historical romance with unexpectedly high stakes. I really enjoyed the characters of Joss and Gareth, they were very well fleshed out and motivations clear. Hated the audiobook narrator though, thought it was AI at first the narration is so stilted at times. Def recommend reading it physically/ebook if you can.
