Honestly Jennifer has the power of making every book better and better as we go.
Daddy Nyktos is giving me so much emotional damage I can’t take it ❤️

A fantastic follow up from the first book in the series. I’m so excited to continue Sera’s story! Also v happy that she finally started calling him Ash instead of Nyktos again bc that felt way too close to Nektas and I was getting a little confused.

What surprise me most about this book is the amount of emotions that it evoked in me. I was angry, I was happy, I was captivated, and so much more. There were times that I had to literally put the book down, walk away, and process what I read and the feelings I was having. It was so good. The “steamy scenes” were so well written. I have been in love with Cas and Poppy and never thought that Ash and Sera had a chance to usurp that couple. Boy was I wrong. I adore Ash and Sera like none other. They have captivated my heart and I dread the wait for the next book in the series to be release. I believe that it will serve the reader to read the first book in the series before moving on to this book. It may even be useful to read this series before at least the 3rd and 4th book of the Blood and Ash series. I highly recommend this book

Overall, I still enjoy this series and universe, but this book was a little lacking. It had a good bit of action in the beginning but then it faded and there seemed to be no real plot advancement, just a lot about their relationship (which is like 40% sex honestly). Idk, the world is still cool, but I wish a lot more would’ve happened in this book. At least the endings are all pretty compelling to make me want to keep reading. It wasn’t like this book was a bear to get through at all really, I just see a lot of potential that isn’t being realized. Also, this series’ connection with the main series confuses me — like yes, there is some lore development, but I feel like this series is trying too hard to be its own thing. I like that it can stand on its own, but I feel like it should be servicing the main series a lot more. Anyways, I’m glad I’m bouncing between the series so one doesn’t get stale. Here’s some random thoughts I had while reading:

Here’s some random thoughts I had while reading:
- This book already seems a good bit more action-packed than the first, which is a good improvement
- This dude has got to stop coming in his pants
- Alright, Sera is being a little too ridiculous about putting herself in danger for no reason
- Okay there’s starting to be too many spicy scenes in this book, like can we move the plot forward please?
- Yep, still waiting for the plot to more forward beyond just them fucking…(this was written like a full 10% of the book after the note above)
- The anxiety/depression representation seems kinda shit, like I don’t think this is what it really feels like
- It was already the longest prophecy in existence and she made it longer??? It’s so confusing and for no reason too

I think I enjoyed this book more than the first. I feel like the book kept me engaged the whole time, had lots of twists and turns, and enjoyed how Sera and Nyktos’s relationship evolved throughout. I loved seeing more from our side characters, especially the draken, and get little easter eggs from our main story (the Balfour family!).
The Veses storyline was tough to read, and I don’t overly feel it was necessary to the whole storyline, but I’m glad she didn’t have it derail the book for too long.
I did have a major no duh moment towards the end when we learned someone was not as clueless as we were lead to believe, because really…how could they have not known or suspected any of what’s going on with Sera?? But it was still a very intense ending that has me eager to get my hands on the next book!
