Sooo apparently I'm a sucker for books about FBI agents (not news) and some sort of enhanced humans (also not news). This was absolutely great - the setting, the writing, the characters, everything just worked for me. I'm so glad the next volume is coming out next week already because I can't wait to read more of this.

4.5 Stars ~ Since having recently discovered the writing of Victoria Sue and already enjoying one of her series, when I saw 'Five Minutes Longer' and read the blurb, I knew it was a book for me. I love urban fantasy stories with strong paranormal elements, particularly as I get to enjoy the world building the author does. In the case of this book I was fascinated from the very beginning.

Enhanced is a genetic condition, not a disease that can be caught, although scientists differ on their theories. It usually appears in young men around adolescence with absolutely no warning. They wake up one morning and they have the jagged lightning bolt scar under their left eye and they have psychic and physical abilities not normal to humans, or regulars as the enhanced call them. Most families of these children turn them over to the state to take care of not wanting a freak in their family, and regulars as a whole view them as monsters.

Finn's rejection letter from the FBI hits him hard as it's the only thing he has worked so hard for these past ten years. Imagine his surprise when he gets a call saying there has been a mistake and for him to report to a field office in Florida. Once he realizes he is to be part of an enhanced/human team, Finn knows very well these guys don't want him and will try to get him kicked out quickly. He does his best and is still there after five days having surprised a few of his teammates. Unfortunately, due to a political situation, the FBI has to announce this new team and Finn is stuck with Talon, Gael, Vance, Sawyer, and Eli, and they with him.

Interesting idea, was ruined by one word, if 'kid' is used for a sexual partner, vomit happens, yuck.

My Hereos

Excitement, action-packed, fraught with yummy tension and suspense, is this the latest box-office hit? No, it’s the Enhanced World by Victoria Sue! Finn, Talon, Gael, Vance and mysterious Eli, I LOVE them all and I know what I’m binge-reading this week. Amazing and incredible, I couldn’t put it down.

Great M/M PNR

Great writing. Great characters. Great story. Not too angsty or melodramatic. I have nothing to complain about. It's the perfect story to take a break with.

I LOVE Finn and Talon! Finn is just so innocent, but not stupid. He knows why he's there, but it still hurts. He's going to do everything he can to prove that he CAN do it.

Immersion broken by insta-love romance between trainee and supervisor

OMG I LOVED this! And I'm such a bad fangirl for having waited this long to finally read this amazing story! (Although, on the plus side of having waited, I have an ARC of the next book on my kindle and I get to start it tonight!)

Right from the start, I was absolutely absorbed into this story. The world building in this was creative, fun, and interesting. I was reminded a bit of the X-Men, how they had different powers, how people were afraid of then, against them, and wanted to control them, and so on. I can't wait to learn more about the powers within this group as this series continues.

I loved Finn and his determination to be a part of the FBI. He desperately wanted that feeling of family, since his own family is horrible, and to find something he could be a part of. He winds up finding it with this team of H.E.R.O.s that the FBI has decided to try and put together for the first time - humans working with the enhanced. Talon is to be Finn's partner, and although things start off pretty tense, Finn endears himself to many members of the team, and of course Talon. I loved them together, Finn and Talon had great chemistry together! Whew! I'm glad that this next book is continuing with Finn and Talon and I do hope they'll talk a bit more and really settle into having that solid couple-type feeling.

I also loved the other members of the team - Gael and Sawyer, especially. I can't wait to learn more about them as this series continues, like Eli and Vance and what their pasts are, what their powers are becoming, and how this team will fare all working together.

Highly recommend this and looking forward to diving into the next book!

Intriguing start to a new series and definitely left me wanting more. In the world that Ms. Sue has created there is a new species of humans....enhanced with abilities that normal humans don't have, and not trusted by even their own families.

Finn Mayer just wants out of his small hometown and away from his mother and brother. He has been working at chance with the FBI but knows it's a long shot. When he gets a call for an opportunity with a new team filled with enhanced humans he knows this may be his only way in. He has four weeks and everything working against him.

Talon is an enhanced human with the ability to slow or stop human organs. And even coming from a prominent family he knows he will never have a normal life. Until the FBI decides to create a team of enhanced and Talon is tapped as the team leader. The only draw back is they have to work with non-enhanced humans as well.

This story line is fast paced with so much happening on both sides. It's politically morally charged. Then you throw the romance in there and that just pushes it over the edge to non stop action.

Nick J. Russo's narration does a great job at bringing these men to life and pacing the story to heighten the drama to it's maximum level. They story is strong on its own but Russo adds life to it.

I am excited to see how this world develops and want to know more about how the enhanced came to be.

I'm really liking the start of this series. The whole aspect of the enhanced and their talents opens up innumerable possibilities. The enhance members of the team all seem to have interesting backstories that I can't wait to find more about.
