I absolutely loved this!!! Obviously it wasn’t as nuanced as the books I usually read as it’s written for much younger audiences but otherwise I really really enjoyed this and didn’t find it being middle grade to be an issue at all

This is so much better than Harry Potter: a young Black girl from low-income housing is accepted to a secretive Supernatural Bureau intern program, with all the issues you'd expect from legacy doofuses. Lots of humor throughout this, also some bullying, and a really satisfying villain fight.

I started and restarted this book three times, and it just didn't capture me! The premise and writing seemed really fun; just not the right book for me right now.

This is a new middle grade series that I know I’m going to love! The world building was really cool. It gave me a really cool MIB:Men In Black vibe. I liked the relationships between the characters. The twist at the end was unexpected. I’m excited to read the next book and I am very glad that I have been granted an ARC for it!

THIS WAS INCREDIBLE!!! Definitely one of my favourite reads of this year so far. It was so enjoyable that I hated putting it down. I was so obsessed with the world Alston created; he made me desperately want a job at the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs (specifically in the Department of Hidden Spaces)!! The pacing was impeccable. All the characters were fantastic, but I especially LOVED Amari as our main character and her narrative voice. I cannot wait to pick up the sequel.
