I am in love with this book and am excited for more! Just wow! The adventure, mystery, other exciting events that happen that I cannot mention because it would spoil the book. I love her unstoppable and fighting spirit. Elsie, is the best, and I adore her.

I do admire and empathize with Amari even though I am of a different race I can relate to being bullied for looking different and having to find my courage as well as prove to others that I am a person like them. Amari is what is needed today and should be on every school's list of reading.

This was the adventure I needed and yes, we go into a supernatural world that I am eager to explore more of, where the elevators talk, and everyone has a special ability that gets enhanced. I think one of the best parts was the ending, made me tear up, and that's why I implore everyone to read this book. You will not be disappointed.

'Amari and the Night Brothers' by B.B. Alston is a fantastic middle grade fantasy novel that follows one girl as she discovers a new world while searching for her brother.
Amari Peter's family is reeling from the disappearance of her older brother and golden child Quinton Peters. But then one night, Amari discovers a briefcase in Quinton's room that gives clues to what really happened to him and that it's a lot more fantastical than her family had thought. To learn more about what happened and see if she can find Quinton, Amari follows in his footsteps and tries out at the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs, which offers a peek into the magical and supernatural world that Quinton is a part of.
This book is so much fun and Amari is a fantastic protagonist. Alston has created a set of characters that you can't help but fall instantly in love with and a fascinating world that we get to discover right alongside Amari. It feels like a fresh take on the classic 'child goes to study the magical world they never knew existed.' I think part of this is due to Alston's writing style and the pieces of the world that he examines. My favorite of these being when we learn about classic moments of history that are really coverups for magical or supernatural happenings. I don't want to say too much about the plot because I think it's best to go in without knowing too much but I loved the twists and turns that it takes and where it sets us up for the next installment. The audiobook was really immersive and I highly recommend it. It's going to be hard to wait a full year for the 2nd book in this series as I can't wait to see what Amari does next.
