I really wanted to love it. I was enjoying it so much. I just really hated the twist at the end. The whole ending really. It was just disappointing really. I want to read on but not as much as I did until the last 10%

This was so amazing and just brought back nostalgic feelings of being a kid and falling in love with reading. Amari as a main character was so easy to root for. The world building was really fun and whimsical and also included commentary about various forms of prejudice. I didn't think I could be this excited about a middle grade book as an adult, but this just made me really happy.

I think this is on par with Harry Potter and Percy Jackson… give it ten years and it will be as well-beloved as them

Does anyone else have it kind of remind them of the Hogwarts Mystery game? Finding a missing brother, in a magical school hidden from the outside world, Elise is basically Rowan. Don't get me wrong, this is way better, I just thought it was funny.
