amazing as always

I’ve read pretty much every one of AJ’s books and she has turned into one of my favourite authors. And I’ve loved every single work of hers I’ve read. This one wasn’t an exception. I can honestly say I can’t wait for the other parts of this serial to come out.
I loved Tan, but Devan’s way of just taking everything in stride just amazed me.

”Hans! We’re kidnapping a town, get the big garden open and ready for people!”

I really like this one. It’s not some price winning book, more like a Wattpad story but if you enjoy reading those kind of books you should really read this. It was interesting in its own way and really cute!

2/5

i'm not a big fan of how this book portrayed its only woman (as a total crazy bitch) but it had cute moments. characters were a little flat and i had a lot of exposition but to be fair im not sure how i wouldve explained their bgs myself, especially since its such a short book.

my own personal wish is that there was more actual villainy than just some big misunderstanding but ! im like that with every book.

looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

If you don’t know what a crack fic is, then this is it and here’s a helpful Urban Dictionary definition [https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Crackfic].

This is so derivative and boring, it’s basically fanfiction for the whole sword and sorcery genre.

Please, no more. I only finished it because it was short and I had trouble sleeping

This was so delightful!

It had me laughing several times, the humor was just too good. Tan was adorable and funny, I couldn't get enough of him. Devan was the more serious, grounded character but he was so kind and gentle, truly a gentle giant as Tan thinks of him.

He works as the knight to the princess, but the princess is actually secretly horrible, and he stays her knight not to protect her, but to protect her people from her.

There are barbarians set to attack a small town in the North in a few days, and Devan defies orders, as the princess wants to just let the barbarians attack and ransack the small town, and then burn it down with the barbarians and all the innocent civilians in the town with them.

Devan can't in good conscience allow that to happen.

So he goes to Tan, who is known as a black sorcerer, and has a reputation for being scary and evil. Most of it is just Tan having defended himself from others trying to hurt him. He tuns out to actually be a fairly good guy overall, who only kills when he has to. Only if you're trying to hurt him or someone he cares about will he hurt and/or kill you and have no remorse.

Otherwise he's actually pretty kind, and only demands cuddles from Devan in return for helping teleport the whole town of 1100 people out of there to save their lives.

Tan is immediately smitten with the ruggedly handsome, big, muscly knight, and wouldn't mind a romp in the sheets, but Devan is resistant.

He has some attraction, but he doesn't allow himself to go there as he has to keep being a knight for the princess and it wouldn't work, him being the the black sorcerer who has a reputation for more evil things.

But Tan twirls into rooms, he asks for kittens to get an audience with him - and doesn't eat them as the rumor suggests. He just keeps them - and he only asks for cuddles in return for helping Devan save 1100 people.

He certainly starts to grow on the more serious Devan by the end of this, but Devan resists. For how long, I guess we'll see.

They don't even kiss int his first installment *pouts* but I'm sure it is coming and it will be glorious. This was, after all, only 103 pages.

I'm definitely continuing with this series. Whether right away or not, I don't know. I'm going to see if anything else catches my interest. If not, definitely diving into book two.

This was just so delightful and funny. I can't wait for more!
