I really really enjoyed this book.
The first book was good, but this one touched me so much more deeply. I recall after reading the first one thinking that it seemed too fictitious, too wild and absurd, and sometimes a hint of corny in dialogue and with the angels and demons. But this book never gave me that impression. The storyline and mystery are perfectly crafted and sticks with you. And the angelic battles and how they speak of God is never corny, it rings so true. Now, maybe that indicates the time of life I'm in, and that's fine because I needed to read this.
The first book didn't have very memorable characters, but this book delivered so well. I feel like Sally Beth Roe is my best friend now. And even though she is literally a murderer, I relate so well with her struggles, with her glorious encounter with God and her peace.
That's another thing, I feel this book wasn't "holding back" anything, or trying to not be too graphic. The first felt that way, which added to the corny... But this one, boy oh boy, satanic rituals and all were there. I appreciate how they were written, and it made it feel real, the evil wasn't something theoretical, it was heartwrenching and real.
Definitely recommend this book, I personally shall hold it dear to my heart, and Sally will go into my favorite characters hall of fame.

Pretty intense novel about demons taking over! Classic good versus evil story.
I really liked this book when I was younger but reading it now was very different. It definitely was longer than it needed to be and the only character I was really invested in was Sally. The theology is very whitewashed western theology and honestly I don't think I will read it again.
I didn't expect that this one could be as good as the first, but Peretti did it. This man can write!
How can he so completely and intricately weave a story!?
I've been inspired to punch up my prayer habits for sure!
