This was a Book Club pick for our January club. It was good but there was no real story line it kind of just jumped around a little. I felt like I was reading an episode of Orange is the New Black really. I'm interested to hear what the other women in my book Club thought. It was good but did not keep me hooked.

This book gave nooooothing that I wanted it to and therefore, did not finish. I got to approx 3/4 of the way through before I realised.
I normally perceiver but none of the characters were likeable, structure is so off because I had no idea who was who at times. It’s such a shame because I had such high hopes and had read great reviews!

A searing look inside the USA's industrial grade penal system. Kushner paints a vivid picture of the harsh realities and injustices faced by incarcerated women. The women are portrayed with depth and humanity, making her journey both compelling and heart-wrenching. The novel doesn't shy away from criticizing the systemic failures of the criminal justice system. Kushner weaves in themes of poverty, addiction, and abuse, highlighting how these factors contribute to the cycles of crime and incarceration. The bleak and often grim tone of the novel might not appeal to everyone. While the realism adds to the story's impact, it can also make for a heavy and sombre reading experience.
