It's really good, if you like WH lore. If you liked the 1st you'll like this.
False Gods continues the epic tale of Horus' incendiary crusading efforts, managing to flesh out already introduced characters and then light a match to the entire universe as a prelude to the single most important event in canon lore.

Th second installment of the Horus Heresy series was, frankly, not quite as good as the first. Mainly in the way it joltingly advances the fall of Horus.
Some light spoilers ahead.
This book is as blood soaked and gothic dark as the first installment, and advances the story showing the fall of Horus and the beginnings of his plans to usurp the Emperor.
The only problem I have with it is the way that the character of Horus was handled. In Horus Rising, the first book in the series, Horus was written as a complex, yet shiningly noble man. He had great strength but also immense responsibility.
It only took about 70 pages for the second book to re-write him as arrogant, selfish and on the verge of corruption. This jarred and annoyed me, though I understand why they would have to do this.
The side characters are all still interesting and I am still invested in the story so this still gets highly rated but, again. Just not quite as good as the first installment.
