No notes, fantastic conclusion to Mische and Asar's story and potentially my favourites so far. Big book but didn't feel like any of it dragged - I'm just sad that we have to wait until next year now!

Thanks NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the arc!
After having read all of Carissas Nyaxia Books in the last 1,5 years, I thought I was prepared. Guess not.
If you've come this far in the series, you are probably familiar with the events up until book three. Well, that's what I thought. I really really recommend reading a summary of at least book 3 before starting this one - it has only been a year for me and I was feeling so, so lost. Quick tip: there is a glossary in the back of the book.
The book starts off where part 3 ended, so there is not a lot else to be said about the plot.
Carissa Broadbent manages to think of a dazzling setting, great mysteries and shocking plot twists yet again. Her ability to create magical places is pretty unmatched.
I really loved the songbird and the heart of stone. Something about Mische, Asar and Luce really clicked with me. This makes it even more shocking to me that I was unable to connect with these characters at all this time. I can't really pin this feeling, maybe it felt like too much plot with to little time to execute it, poor pacing or something else, but I was struggling hard with this book. I usually finish books in under a week, and this one took me nearly three. I was interested in the story, but not really motivated to pick up the book. Maybe it was more of a me problem, but idk.
The thing that really saved this one for me were the side characters. I don't want to spoil anything, but the book starts off strong.
I don't know what it is, but like with the first duet in the crowns of nyaxia series, I loved the first book but did not enjoy the second.
Still, I am looking forward to reading the next one as it comes out. Based on the Epilogue I have a feeling on who could be our mc and I am so so excited (yes, I am also surprised by this)

It was a continuation of the epic madness of the last book in the duology.
Mische and Asar might be my favorite couple. It was moving to watch their journey and their love together defy the odds.
The epicness of this fantasy series keeps elevating. I’m terrified of where it goes next.
However, if something happens to Nyaxia in the next duology, I’m revolted. Idk why I adore her, but I do.
