I prefer her non fiction to her fiction, but still, Joan Didion is just a great writer.

It is one of those books about alienated, depressed women, at least in this case, it was written by one. I can't say it's one of the best books I've read or something, but I really dig Joan Didion's style, enjoyed the vibe and the atmosphere she managed to create for this short novel. Also, the protagonist, Maria, although clichéd, seemed relatable and lovable. With its short chapters, this book is perfect for commuting or traveling.

A book for Lana Del Rey fans who want to be depressed by a pool.

15 year old me would love this.

Very good, contemplative, seemingly unreliable but the real unreliable aspect are the people maria is forced to be around. interesting reflective peace on the state of being a woman in show business. summary describes it as the moral limbos of the late 1960s and there’s no better succinct way to say it.
