SpoilerI liked the first book better, mainly because I didn't feel this needed the violence or "thrill" (not the word I want, but the only one I can currently think of) of a stalker/attempted kidnapping. I NEEDED the begging from the guys so the guilt that they showed and the desperation they potrayed - 10/10. How quickly the guys who didn't know the truth turned on Ash? Though I wasn't fond of the beating him up thing, I mean - he kind of had it coming. Let's be honest, if I was River's BFF, I'd have beat them to death with a crowbar YEARS prior. But I do love how quickly Ash moved to make amends and just took his punishment. The character arc from the first book to the second really did show the time jump. Lyric was so cute, too. It did take me a hot minute to get used to her calling all of the guys "Daddy," but I think that's more because this is the first contemporary why-choose I have read. And I quickly got over it because I cannot express how much I enjoyed having Lyric's parentage not be a secret to her and that the "why choose/reverse harem" lifestyle was more normalized.

I think I liked this one more than the first. It wasn’t perfect but I enjoyed it — still some cringe parts but it was fine otherwise

This was unbelievably amazing. River is so strong and I love her. The guys definitely make me mad at the beginning but it’s hard to be too mad when they don’t have all of the information. Asher. Ughh. I was so mad at him for what he did and how he lied about it for YEARS. I wanted to stay mad but I just couldn’t. I forgave him before he even told everyone the truth. Lyric was so adorable. I’m not usually really into the pregnancy trope or the MC’s having kids in general (I’m 22 and kids give me the ick lol). I really loved this book though! I will definitely be checking out more of Aly Beck’s books asap.

Following book 1 and the betrayal that happened, I expected major groveling and a shattering reveal.

I liked book 1
the connection between the guys and their girl was done with us understanding each's background

why this book failed for me:

1- River gave in immediately... it didn't even take her two weeks to fall in someone's lap. She even said it herself. She was too horny to fight them.
2- the  Deus ex machina that the author kept throwing. River falls ill, the kid, the stalker, the safe house., the mother shoplifted.. everything worked for the men.
3- did they really grovel? they were remorseful for sure, they promised never to hurt her,, ok, but honestly, what did they do to show that?? it was decent.
4- That stalker storyline did not make any sense and was not needed. I expected them to solve it or protect her or something.... nope, we had to wait till 92% to have that little drama reveal that we saw a mile long.
5- The kid was really really really annoying. It is always tricky to write kids in adult books. Lyric was not.
6- This had no business being 600+ pages long. many chapters were stretched with internal monologuing and repeated flashbacks.

It was a decent read
but i would not recommend to anyone
