I really didn't know what to expect from this, but the description sounded potentially interesting. If this had been a novel or short story, I probably would have hated it for being overly simplistic and too silly. This kind of story can work in comic or even movie form, and it def comes across as B horror, which I am a huge fan of. However, this story is a bit cliched. It takes place in the 80s and has kinda throw back art, which makes me as a reader want to give it a break because it's old school, but it actually isn't, it's just written by an old person and meant to seem old and sort of play into the nostalgia factor. Should I really be more forgiving of older works? I dunno.
The bad guys are pretty one dimensional, just bad to give the hero something to fight and the reader something to hate. I didn't feel much fear for the main character, as she would obviously make it out alive. That said, it was still a kinda fun read and I really lik the classic comic art. I did like the final climax and overall, it was fine.

4.5 stars. LOVED THIS! Even if it was predictable some times. The main character is badass and the cover art/chapter art is gorgeous. Hope this gets a film or series adaptation.

'"What'chu got there in that basket?"'

June keeps her decapitated heads in a basket. She uses a supernatural viking ax to chop them off. (They had it coming.) And they're still talking. Which is good because she needs their help to find her missing boyfriend and solve a mystery. Kind of funny and offbeat. And June is a badass with the ax. Really liked this!

'"You're talking to two decapitated heads in a basket, June, can't you see you need HELP?"'

The only thing I ever want is for Joe Hill to NEVER STOP writing graphic Novels!! I’m telling you I could not put this down!

I loved the drama, the suspense, the bloodshed! Also bad ass female characters for 1000 Bob! I loved this GN and as I do regularly recommend Locke and Key I can recommend this as well!
