Cherry Bomb is a wild, hot, omg read that will have you burning through your kindle. Carmel not only delivers her signature off the wall, insanely hot love scenes but she layers suspense and tension which will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for it all to explode (tick, tick, tick ....).

In Cherry, Carmel provides a flaw filled main character who despite her best intentions, makes mistake after mistake. This wise choice not only makes her instantly relatable but also provides the setting for her actions to follow her. For example, sleeping with the older British hottie only to find out that he's her roommate's father. (boom)

In Cherry Bomb, Carmel navigates this ticking bomb expertly all the while raising the heat level. Make sure you have a fan nearby when you read it, you have been warned. So good.

Cherry is your not so average girl trying to get a college degree while working a local high end steak house. She was betrayed be her sister and bf in HS so she has closed off her heart since then. She has her hookups but all she wants to do is work and graduate college. But when the sexy Brit, Cash, walks into her restaurant they instantly click. They spend an amazing night together where they both say it is just one night. But neither one of them can walk away. Even after they find out that Cash is Cherry's best friend's dad.

I was shocked by this book. I picked it up because I saw age gap and best friends dad. Both are one-clicks for me. I was just thinking I would get a deliciously salacious book. I got that in spades for sure. But there was more to it than that and it made love it all that much more. This book dealt with mental health and dependency issues which I was not expecting. Cherry had her issues and she thought she was dealing with them but she was just masking them. Cash comes in and blows her whole world upside down. He takes care of her in a way that no one has before. I was so clear how much Cash loved Cherry and how much he wanted to protect and take care of her but her issues wouldn't allow her to fully fall. Then when it all falls apart I felt that the author did this perfectly. Don't get me wrong I hated it - I always want hearts, flowers and love - but that can't always be the case. The conflict was perfectly done and it felt real. All of it. My only complaint is it seemed too easy when they resolved everything. But Cash is kind of perfect and I love him so much. Cherry is a bad ass with a broken heart that only Cash can repair. Loved this book so hard.

“You’re a bad girl, aren’t you, Cherry?”

So essentially this is an age gap romance, but add another layer of taboo because the guy is her best friend’s long time absent father. That also tells you the age gap is pretty wide. 19 years. It didn’t bother me and age gap isn’t my thing usually. I just liked that this was steamy and had the right amount of angst. Cherry was struggle bussing because of things that happened in her past, and Cash was trying to start a relationship with his daughter, so that was the main theme other than these two boning. I did feel like there could have been more build between them relationship wise, but I do feel this was more about the taboo aspect and each individually. All in all this was a good read, and I’m maybe going to pick up the next in the series. I really hope Arden gets a book. I think it’s sort of hinted at, and already know that pairing would be something.

“Life is crazy. Love is crazy. You, Cherry girl, are just a product of your environment.”- Carmel Rhodes, Cherry Bomb

Whoa buddy, Carmel Rhodes knows how to serve up the steam. Especially that taboo/forbidden steam. I really enjoyed Cherry Bomb, and there were also a nuances that I really appreciated that I can’t say because I’m decidedly anti-spoiler

I've lowkey changed my rating scheme so this comes out at a 3 star. and that feels about right. I've only read one other book by this author and it was WAY darker than this. I didn't hate this by any means, I think there was just too much going on? Or maybe I just read this on a bad day. I really enjoyed the writing style, but something about Cherry rubbed me the wrong way.

3.5/5 stars. This series moves quickly and is super easy to read and get sucked into, but I enjoyed Emma and Logan’s story in Midnight Kiss a bit more. Cash and Cherry were great but there was a sweetness to Midnight Kiss that was missing here, and this story felt less developed. I’m still verrrrry into this series though and hope we get Jax and Arden’s series soon!
