Dragons Love Tacos

Adam Rubin

4.12 AVERAGE

A sensational recipe for serving dragons who may not like eating spicy food.
-- Monty K.

Everything about this cover beings me joy. It is a silly little book, but there is sharing food and celebration in amongst spicy salsa shenanigans. I look forward to exploring other works by this author/illustrator pairing.

This is a cute crowd pleasing choice for audiences K and up! Even got some adults laughing at the antics of the dragons. I reworded some passages on the fly for a group audience and it allowed for more interactivity and participation.

Our grade 5 students are working on fantasy book clubs. During library, we’ve discussed elements of fantasy fiction. I read this book aloud, then had students write arguments for why it’s an example of a fantasy. We discussed some elements (hero’s journey, etc) and what they might be in the story. Kids loved the story, even laughing out loud.

So silly :)

Very cute. Perfect for older toddlers/younger preschool.

Humorous read-aloud, simple and brilliant. Highly recommended for ages 4-6.

Matt found this book while out running errands this morning, soon to be given to either our niece or nephew for their first birthday. (Not both - he only bought one copy. Which kid likes tacos/dragons more??) It's cute, though the stuff about the spicy salsa is a little much, but it does have a nice message about fixing things you've inadvertently destroyed, and also there's a taco party, and who doesn't love those.
