It was fine but then after around 60% mark (very generous guess) slowed to a crawl and I wasn't interested in reading it anymore. It seemed to be extremely drawn out, especially with 3 more books left of the series. Not sure if I'll actually read the rest of it. I was so close DNFing this book. Character development regressed and I actually started to hate Amaris and Nox. I hate the ending and the tropes used. The smut scene of Amaris and Gad surprised me, altho I kind of had a feeling they would get together for some reason. It just felt off and forced. There really wasn't much need to have their relationship develop into something more than friends/comrades, heck, I honestly was hoping more of an older brother-younger sister relationship. The whole thing felt extremely weird and kind of creepy.

I never DNF books. Seriously never. I genuinely think this is my first ever. And after recently forcing myself to finish a bad series and then reading some good books, maybe I’ve finally come to realize why.
I’m such a vibes reader, I’m so uncritical in a literary aspect. So I just didn’t like this book. I couldn’t care. I wanted to, but just couldn’t summon up enough determination to see how it all pans out.
This book in particular is so slow and pointless. By my 43% in we have done very little except wander, and make our two FMCs way less compelling.
I’ve read a bunch of reviews with some light spoilers and see a lot of good reasons for me to be more annoyed later.
