The book had some character twists that made no sense in my opinion and contains issues i don’t think the author has enough knowledge about. Also i can’t stand one of the main characters.

Majority of the book was a bit boring and only towards the end it got exciting.

<spoilers>
The first book was pretty good. The pacing was a little weird but overall, I enjoyed it. The second book, however, I had to stop reading. It was beginning to read like fanfiction. Especially as the relationship between Gadriel and Amaris began to progress. He's an angry brutish man that struggles to control his temper and it gets her going. Not a fan of the overused trope. In addition, it seemed abundantly clear an editor wasn't used. Many things were being repeated and overexplained. For instance, when Gadriel walks toward the floor in the room of orbs. The books says he realizes as he's falling through that Amaris had seen that there was no floor the whole time because she can see through enchantments. Then when he's saved, he acts as though he had no idea what was happening and Amaris had to explain it to him and was thinking how stupid he was for not seeing the floor.
Then there's the room of orbs itself. While the author does change the layout of the room and the shelves while also adding the element of the enchanted floor, it's too reminiscent of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Finally, in the last book Amaris and Nox were reunited for about five minutes before they were separated again. Nox's whole life purpose until this point had been to reunite with Amaris. She killed for it, controlled men, escaped the brothel, survived the vile commander that tortured women all just to be reunited with Amaris. Then she's saved and brought across the continent. I understand that Amaris has an injured Gadriel and therefore can't leave behind a friend. But why wouldn't Nox immediately go after Amaris? She's never cared about politics, never cared about the curse, all of her motivation has been self serving because that's how she had to survive. Suddenly she's just switching and trying to kill the queen and basically forgetting about Amaris? And they're gaining love interests in different people? I'm confused.
I like the premise of the book. The idea that there's this curse over a misunderstood people and they have to figure out how to save them. The mystery behind why the queen would fake a crown prince. The fact that Nox is a succubus stolen from the North and Amaris' history still to be figured out. I just feel it could have been followed through sooo much better. All the wrong things are being explained and ideas just seem to be thrown in and it's kinda just like, well I guess this is where we're going now?
I appreciate the effort at a bisexual fantasy series. I really wanted to like this book and wanted to see how it ended. It was too badly written to finish. Almost like reading Wattpad. Which is cool if you're into that.
