At its best when he's recounting people's lived experiences - such as the man who was evicted for visiting his family for a few weeks.
The book feels heavily researched, but it isn't well referenced, and where he does mention the background reading he's done it can be vague - a study in the Lancet in X year, for example - so it can be hard to pinpoint the line between fact and opinion, and to guage how reliably he's presenting his sources.
Interesting, none the less.
