My fellow Bookworms picked this up for me at BEA and I got it in the mail today. The lil cuties (ages 3-11) all sat down to read it with me, and we have this to say: WE LOVE IT!!

The illustrations are beautiful and extremely funny. My youngest loved the colors and my oldest were laughing out-loud at the hidden shenanigans going on. The story line is engaging, if not simple. But hey, overly complicated children books are no good. This is definitely a book that will get worn out, the kids were already asking for me to reread it to them.

Bonus points for the title. Mustaches are for awesome. No doubt.

This books is scheduled to come out in October of this year (2011), I recommend it for ages 5-8, but think its a story all ages would enjoy.

A story about a kingdom ruled by an arrogant king, who doesnt solve any of the problems within his town because he is too obsessed with himself. It is a cute story, but it doesnt have any real resolution. The town is still suffering at the end, and they are still ruled by the arrogant king.

Hilarious. Wonderfully illustrated with great detail by Kevin Cornell and written by Mac Barnett in simple, but very effective passages. I love the two page spread of everyone in the village raising their hand, copping to drawing the mustaches, even the little kid with a sling (and the bear!). A great book to pair with another 2011 funny book, King Hugo's Huge Ego.

It kinded of reminded me of Bartholemew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss (my favorite kids book growing up). Kind of cantankerous, selfish king who learns a lesson in the end.

Not quite sure there's a proper ending here, but you sure have a hell of a good time getting there.

The king in this story is very egotistical. There is a lot that needs fixing in town, but he can't see beyond his reflection. The town rebels by drawing mustaches on all the pictures of the king. He is not amused and something must be done. Many silly parts that kids will enjoy reading. Pictures are bright and silly as well.
