I go into every single Elizabeth Lim book expecting amazing character building and beautifully depicted worlds that literally take my breath away and I haven’t been disappointed. Not once!!!

Did I want to like Channery? Absolutely not! But her story brought me to tears at times. I wish that Her Radiant Curse didn’t have to end the way it did, because I wanted a happy ending. Which in a way, it was. But not for everyone.

After the death of her mother, Channi is cursed. Where her sister Vanna has a radiant glow and unmatchable beauty, she is hideous. With the scales and poisonous blood of a snake, she spends her days basking in her sister’s footsteps. But Channi was asked by her mother on her deathbed to take care of her sister no matter what and that’s what she plans to do.

When Vanna is old enough, her father and the head of the village temple plan to auction her off to the highest bidder. But the cruel King Nga plans to buy her for his menagerie of oddities. When Vanna asks to be able to choose who wins her, Channi goes to battle to make sure that wish happens.

In this book, we find out how the woman we meet in Six Crimson Cranes becomes the evil stepmother. We see how her affinity with snakes begins and why she is the way she is. And all of it leads back to incredible trauma.

Get ready to cry!!!

I love getting to see Channi and Vanna's story. As always the world and characters are well done.

Good prequel that explains some of my questions I had when I had read Crimson Cranes and Dragons Promise.

Pacing is relatively good and the characters are likeable. There wasn’t as much world building in this one I felt but I already knew office other two books I guess?

I wouldn’t recommend reading this before the other two because it would spoil the stories a little I think.

If you enjoyed the other two books written before this one then you will enjoy this one even more bc though its timeline is before the other books.

P.S I did not agree with Kremalans ending here!

Her Radiant Curse proved to be a captivating read, seamlessly picking up the threads left by the enthralling Six Crimson Cranes. It effortlessly delivered everything I sought in a post-series narrative, maintaining the same level of enchantment and intrigue that initially drew me into this fantastical world. The storyline flowed smoothly, with well-crafted characters and a plot that kept me hooked from beginning to end. What truly sets this novel apart is its seamless integration with the broader universe of related books, enhancing the overall reading experience. In essence, Her Radiant Curse is not only a satisfying continuation but also a testament to the author's skill in weaving together a rich tapestry of interconnected tales.
