Killer book. Taboo subject, handled earnestly. Challenging in its form and insistence in its categorization as a novel. I'll have to read more Heti, but first I need to digest this one.

This was such an interesting read. It starts with the narrator using a coin flip to make her decisions, which, although outrageous, doesn’t spiral out of control and mainly just shows her uncertainty. While the decision making conceit is dropped in the second half of the book, I don’t think it was needed. The real appeal of this book was that the narrator always stayed steadfast in her decision that she wouldn’t have kids, but still spends so much time waffling over it. It kind of zeroes in on the modern dilemma of decision making where the context behind each choice becomes so overwhelming that no decision can really be made without guilt. It was beautifully written and was probably the most introspective book i’ve ever read, but not in a bad way. Overall it’s a really great read that kind of spirals off into every direction at once, but with a really strong core to support it.
