This was a good book in the beginning. It began to drag for me toward the end. Overall, I enjoyed this book it was a fairly quick read.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down and when I was done reading it, I was kind of bummed.

Loved the story, the characters, especially the relationship between Gideon and Sirius. I want a dog!

Entertaining, building mystery, very enjoyable. Flew by on the treadmill, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun summer read.

Just okay. Personally, I couldn't get past the constant "witty banter" and movie/song lyric references.

I had never heard of Alan Russell before but I bought this when it was the Kindle deal of the day, and I'm so glad that I did. I have been more in the mood for mystery/thrillers lately, and this was just mysterious enough to satisfy. Though not abundantly thrilling, it made up for it with great lead characters, sarcastic humor (sort of Dresden-esque), interesting side characters, and believable relationships. Gideon's sarcastic humor, though a little rough a couple of times, reminded me of myself and my own defense mechanisms. I was thoroughly touched by his relationship with his K-9 partner, Sirius, and was glad to see the dog's personality so well written. I will definitely be looking into more books by Mr. Russell.

Who doesn't love a dog story? Will read more by him. My only complaint was the same one I have for Parker. A little repartee with the significant other is tolerable but line after line after line of schtick gets old very fast.
