Weak character development. Dialogue felt cliche and inauthentic. Didn’t evoke any real emotion. Thought this would be a laugh/cry sort of novel. Definitely not that.

3.5 A multi generational drama focused on Dava Shastri, a self obsessed billionaire grappling with her life. I found this an interesting mix of escape entertainment (it is about out of touch billionaires, meeting up on a private island, for example) and thought provoking (questions of legacy, narcissism, technology, family expectations, grief). The story takes place in 2044 but that seems unnecessary as there is no post apocalyptic/futuristic themes.
