Dava Shastri is a strong woman- she is a philanthropist, an idol, a feminine powerhouse. However, she is dying. Enter her last few days analyzing her life, her secrets, and her family, perhaps her proudest and most under appreciated achievement.
I liked this story. It has a lot of names, making it hard to follow at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Dava’s life. Her kids, however, were less exciting for me. While Dava is complex and nuanced, her children and grandchildren fell so flat to me. They were rather selfish and Dava was too, but less relatable or easy to empathize with than she. While they play a big part in the story as it is one of family, Dava stole the spotlight and I wish she fully snatched it, or some of that light was shared.
To me, this is the kind of story that would do well as a series or movie even. It is a fun and entertaining read. And as an audiobook, it was great. The narrator was wonderful.

This really stuck with me, long after I finished it. Not perfect, but different to anything I'd read before, and the mysteries of the truths of Dava's life and how her children related to her were compelling.
Wow, this was so special. Dava shastri is an intricate woman, I can't help but be amazed and shocked by her which makes her an insteresting person to read about. I'll miss this family that felt SO realistic and raw.

7/10, loved the telugu rep but that characters were selfish and horrible people, however, the book was about reflection and I didn't think I needed to like the characters to understand the thoughts and motivations of the main character. the reference to pop music and songs was cool, and I like the diction of the author.
