This was a phenomenal story! I loved every second and there is nothing I would change. The characters were written with such depth it felt like I was right there with them navigating each of their emotions and experiences. This wasn’t just a love story about a couple it was about love for yourself, family, friends and everyone in between.

I love how this book directly tackles mental health and views on therapy, particularly in the Black community. I started this book before, but wasn’t in the space to digest a heavy plot so I came back to it later on. Our main character suffers a terrible loss that changes her life and we watch her recover and put herself back together. In the midst of that, the changes impact her family dynamic, and everyone’s impacted in some way or another. I think the book is well written and does an excellent job of capturing everyone’s emotions. I took one star away because I felt like most of the blame sat with the person who was most affected and that made me sad for her. There are lots of triggers here so reader beware. With all that said, I will be picking up This Could Be Us

I LOVED THIS BOOK!❤️‍🩹

“It begins with a tremor, a realization that love happens in the fragile context of our mortality. That love and life occur just beyond the reach of our control. There is only one letter difference between love and lose, and somewhere along the way, for me they became synonymous.”

*cries* This entire quote… I- 😩

I loved the concept of this second chance romance and I loved the complexity of each character. For me, it was so unique! The ANGST!!!! MAGNETISM!!! TENSION!!! This was my first time read a book written by Kennedy Ryan and I absolutely fell in love with her writing style! The research that went into this book is extremely evident. This story felt real, characters felt real, and I could not put this book down!

It was so well written and my emotions were all over the place from the jump. I was frustrated, crying, happy, sad, upset, and wanted to damn near throw the book! I could sympathize with all for the characters and I wanted so badly to see how everything was going to play out for them. The way how grief was written and expressed with each character deserves its own review itself! The sheer amount of detail that was put into this book is ridiculous! This book captivates you! Yasmen has my heart! I’ve never cared more about a character before. I was crying with and for her! Josiah had me staring at the wall lost for words. I’ve learnt from this book. I’ve never experienced what Yasmen and Josiah went through but I was left with life lessons learnt. This book left a lasting impression on my heart. I was left craving more from Kennedy! Thank you for this masterpiece! I went into this book blind and I’m so happy I did.

Giving this book 5 stars is as easy as breathing. Kennedy Ryan has a way of giving you the most emotional, gut-wrenching love story in a way that feels absolutely effortless. Such intense feelings and subjects and yet you can’t help but fall over and over. I was on edge and frustrated and yet I felt immense privilege watching these two fall back in love with each other. Before I Let Go is going to stay with me for a long long time.

This book was so profound.  I loved the deep dive into mental wellness, therapy and how delicately bit meaningfully Kennedy Ryan dealt with it especially in the context of black families and the relationship we have with mental health. This read was so beautiful. Cannot recommend it enough, and I don't even like 2nd chance romance as a trope.

This was such a beautifully heartbreaking, and at the same time, heartwarming book. The characters were so well flushed out and full. The writing was full of poetic inner monologues and glaringly real dialogue.

It felt like a love letter to therapy and the power that it has.

The character of grief is profound in this book. As someone who has lost in a similar way, not skirting around the grief but instead staring it in the face and explaining it in such a poetic way… it was so cathartic to read grief in such an open way.

I loved this book.

I know this isn't shocking information, but Kennedy Ryan is a Goddess.

This book may be really difficult for people to read because of the traumas within the book, but gosh dang is it beautiful.
