Wow this book just kept me guessing it felt like those old commercials of the old man with the dollar on the fishing line “ya gotta be quicker than that” haha all in all a great read but I R.L Stine is perfect for a great read (maybe I’m biased)
I really enjoyed this, more than 'Don't Stay Up Late' anyway. I always have fun when the Fear family and their scary legends are involved. It was a quick read and a little predictable in some parts, but that could have just been me having outgrown these novels.

I was pretty excited about this because I owned ALL the Goosebumps & Fear Street books as a kid. And I started reading and got extremely confused, and it made me want to go back and read the other books because WHAT.
The voice was terrible. The sentences were like this. The words were there. They were repetitive. I found myself wanting all the characters to die early so I wouldn't have to read the narration about them. It was "tell, not show" when it's supposed to be the other way around. The narrator gave us every detail of information, including about 83% of things that were not important to the plot, developing a character, or remotely interesting. If it's not one of those three things, it doesn't need to be in the book.

This. Was. Beyond. Dumb.
The only reason I didn’t give it 1 star was because of the nostalgia I have for all the Stine books I read growing up.
Characters were so laudably one dimensional that the fact I hated every single person in the story should deserve its own medal.

A bit cheesier than my favorite Fear Street Sagas of the 90s, but a fun read to bring me into spooky season. I plan on reading the rest right away.
