This book is guarenteed something you've never read before. It's the sequel to 'Princess for Hire' and revolves around an 8th grader who has 'MP'--magic potiental. Desi is part of a top-secret agency that places 'subs' or substitutes in the spot of a princess while the royal jets off for a vacation. Often Desi gets herself into messes, and this book had more emergency-type situations that the first novel, which was truly Desi bumbling around. She's a good-natured girl and easy to read about.

Something nice about this book, was that it had a plot. Admittedly the first book had no plot, it was just Desi managing her life. This one though delves deeper into the mysteries of her princess agency. And her full potiental when it comes to magic. There were some plot twists, but I predicted them all before they came true. It's a cute, and quite fluffy read.

Every character in this book I can say I enjoyed reading about. They all progressed as the book came along, and were all unique and fun. Reed, Kaylee, and Desi's mom were among some of the most enjyoable.

Even though I totally saw the last bit coming, I loved it! Desi really becomes a strong protagonist in this book, and sheds her Twilight Bella-shell.

What can I say, it was a good book. Maybe not a great book as an adult, but I’m enjoying it. Honestly, maybe a great book

The Royal Treatment is a great follow up for Princess for Hire. In the first book, Desi showed Facade Agency that her unique approach to princess subbing really helped the princesses. She wasn't just a look-alike, act-alike substitute. Rather, she used her MP (magic potential) to feel out what the princesses really wanted and needed and made decisions that they weren't brave enough to make on their own. Unconventional for Facade, but it ended up being enough to promote Desi to Level 2.

This book alternates between Desi's life as a Sub and her real life. In real life, she is trying out for the school play and dealing with the awkwardness of school crushes (her own and her friend's).

It is clear that Desi has grown as a person from the first book. Knowing that you can successfully change other people's lives really builds self-confidence. While she is quite comfortable in the Subbing world, she is gradually learning to import that self-confidence into real life. Her biggest problem is that she's 14 and just doesn't have the life experience to really navigate crushes and school drama all that well. But she's getting better. And she realizes that her MP can help even in real life.

Life as a Level 2 sub is both more glamorous and more challenging. I always like reading about the crazy, fancy lives of the princesses. What was most interesting about The Royal Treatment was Facade Agency itself. Desi starts to question whether Facade and its leaders really have her best interests in mind. What exactly is Magic Potential? How powerful is it? Why is Facade so possessive about it? I liked seeing Desi argue out whether it's better to go with the flow of Facade or stick to what feels right to her.

Once again, certain elements of this plot are fairly predictable. Especially the romance element. But that's not a big deal. It's rather fun to see Desi work out what the reader has known for a hundred pages.

Another fun book from Lindsey Leavitt.

- I cracked up during the very first scene!! Hot Cross Buns is one of the first songs I learned too! I love that Kylee is a fellow clarinet player!

- This one wasn't as fun as the 1st book. I laughed, but not as much. There was a lot more drama, like HS girl drama, and I wasn't into that. I wanted to read about Desi subbing, and less about her actual life, even though her job is part of her life.

- The ending was exciting!!! I hope it means what I think it means!!

- I LOVE the old movie references, especially the Audrey Hepburn ones! Hepburn is the greatest!!

- I really like the relationship between Desi and Kylee. Every girl needs a friend they can talk to.

- I really want to Celeste to go suck an elf! (koodos to whoever knows what that is from!)

- Even though I didn't enjoy this one as much as the 1st book, I still really want to finish the series.

It’s a middle grade book and it’s obvious, I know, but I was in such a reading block, I just needed something short and sweet to boost my mood. Having this one sitting on my shelf from a $1 purchase in case of a situation like this, I picked it up and read it in a day. Helped quite a bit

Not a very challenging read, seems more like a children's book. But that being said, I like children's books. I was kind of a nice short read. I would recommend to anyone who prefers short, sweet, and not too difficult.
