I am both in love and in hate of George ! He knows what he has done. Bloody brilliant evil genius he is. I gobbled this book up so fast it was scary. I lost sleep needing to know what would happen next! I watched the screen adaptation ( as reading) and highly recommend. Knowing the mind of his characters is incredibly satisfying. A absolute must for the fantasy lovers!

A long read, it's well written but does get quite long, not as much action as you'd think which makes it an even longer read.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was absolutely breathtaking. I LOVED it. The characters were memorable and had distinct voices. The plot line of this book held my attention and was unique, and the pacing was fantastic. These books often stay with me for a long time. After finishing, I can't stop thinking about it. An absolute must read, and now a favorite of mine. Highly Recommended!

This was literary perfection. The characters, the plot, the drama, the intensity. All of it was beautifully written.

This was the first fantasy book I’ve read and I was not disappointed. I can’t wait to continue the series.

*Audio version*

Great characters, interesting and complex story and great plot pacing. (I'll forgive the scads of people to keep track of now that I have a good grip on them. That could just be a visual vs audio learner problem on my part.)

Starting the book tomorrow!

Incredible world building, great story, characters, that really feel alive. Martin is incredible with the multi POV chapters, Sansa’s chapters have a completely different field than Ned’s as they should. HOWEVER, the way Martin over sexualizes Daenerys is quite frankly disgusting, especially considering that she is 13 by the start of this book. I cannot tell you how many times I thought someone should check this man’s hard drive. The amount of rape in this book is also absolutely vile. Do not come to me with “well it’s just the way it was in the middle ages”, this is a fantasy book. No one is reading this for realism.
This book is truly the epitome of a book where it’s completely obvious the author is a man and that’s not a good thing. I wouldn’t go 50 feet near George R.R. Martin.
