An interesting premise, written in a unique way. Was quite stressful but well done.

WHEW this was a page turner. There's nothing super ground-breaking here, in fact the twists and turns that happened were pretty easy to see coming, but the ride is still very worth it. I love books that somehow make you root for the bad guy, which I guess is easy to do when the whole book is from his perspective. It was also really interesting to read his thoughts and justifications throughout the book. At first, you think he's a totally normal, if somewhat quiet and weird, dude. But as the story gets deeper, it unfolds in a really masterful way. I also REALLY applaud the translator of the book, as sometimes translations can lose impact. But Kim Chi-young did an amazing job of capturing the tension and mood that I assume was in the original.
With only 4 chapters, it was hard to read a bit before bed each night, but I was so into it after chapter 3 that I had to finish the book last night. It was so worth it.

Young man wakes up covered in blood ,his mother is dead . There begins the story as he and the reader tries to figure out what happened. Definitely an interesting book going in some unexpected directions.
4⭐️ This is most definitely a psychological thriller and an exciting read with a smooth translation. The “good son” wakes from what he believes is an epileptic seizure to find a gruesome murder in his own home. What actually happened? We see him peel back layers of the last night, and events from years past, until we can all see clearly who he is. Is he the “good son”, just misunderstood, or something much more sinister? Told from the mind of a psychopath, this book is riveting and keeps you reading until the very end. Family dynamics, memory recall, and character perspective are themes in this thriller. Great book- hoping to see more from this author in English translation soon.
The beginning of this dragged quite a bit.
Not sure how accurate this portrayal is of psychopathic personalities - I found it a bit of a slog because Yu-Jin doesn’t really have a redeeming characters. So you’re not rooting for him at all, and being in his head is annoying.
I personally found the ending unsatisfying, but it was an interesting character study overall.
