The Good Son, my favorite book to read in 2018. Being stuck inside the mind of twenty five year old Yu-Jin, who lives with his mother in South Korea. It's brilliant, twisted story that I'm glad got translated to English copies. It's a constant page turner, I couldn't put it down.
Being trapped inside a psychopath's mind trying to figure out if he killed his own mother almost messed up with my own thoughts. You play mind games with yourself as you analyze the story. Did Yu-Jin kill his mother? Or is it all just another sick hallucination?
You-Jeong Jeong strongly presents her writing skills as readers don't know what is real or not in Yu-Jin's eyes. I highly recommend for anyone who's a fan of a good psyche thriller.

This is an amazing, deeply unsettling book. You will be hooked from start to finish.
I just love a good unreliable narrator. I felt like I was peeling an onion.
Neutral 2.5 stars ... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
In fact, it was an unsettling jumble of a book, jumping wildly between past and present. It's a slow-burn kind of book, lacking mystery - but it makes up for that with unsettling insights into the twisted mind of the protagonist. My interest waned about halfway through, struggling to find something good about Yu-jin.
