The writing is soo well done! It was kinda easy to guess but reading it was sooo much fun I felt sooo bad for Haejin

⭐️ The Good Son ⭐️
Yu-jin is no stranger to blackouts and lost memories, having suffered episodes his entire life. When he wakes up one morning, to a metallic smell and eerie silence, he knows he’s had another. Soon he discovers the source of the smell is the lifeless body in the middle of his house. The body of someone he knows very well.
I’d been wanting to read this book for a while, especially after I saw it had been adapted into a KDrama. I love translated fiction, especially Japanese and Korean and am slowly increasing my collection in the latter and this one seemed like a must.
I really enjoyed this book! As short as it is, it felt perfectly eerie and claustrophobic. I love a psychological thriller, and even more so when it is narrated from the perspective of the offender/perpetrator. This one in particular was fascinating, as you’re discovering what happened the night prior as well as a darker truth, alongside the character. It felt really immersive in that way. The dialogue is minimal, and really the story is told more via Yu-jin’s inner monologues and his mother’s diary.
I’ve seen this in other reviews and agree - this is definitely more of a why-dunnit than a who-dunnit. There is no question it was Yu-jin, but discovering the why and what led to it was disturbing in the best ways.

This book was very intriguing but disturbing even for my taste. That’s the point though, to look through a killer’s eyes. I recommend this book if you’re looking for something really dark.
era da parecchio tempo che volevo leggere questo libro dato l’incipit, e per fortuna non mi ha delusa come credevo avrebbe fatto, visto certe recensioni
forse la narrazione è un po’ lenta, però è proprio grazie a questo ritmo narrativo che si riesce a provare lo stesso senso di paranoia, incertezza e quasi claustrofobia che prova il protagonista
in modo molto perverso, questa mi è quasi sembrata una storia di rivalsa, quindi non sono sicura di aver tifato completamente contro il protagonista

عجب رمانی. حقیقتا وقتی تموم کردم موهای تنم سیخ شده بود. داستان با یه شروع خیلی عجیب خواننده رو به چالش میکشه:
بوی خون از خواب بیدارم کرد. شدید بود. انگار تمام بدنم داشت استنشاقش می کرد. درونم می پیچید و منبسط می شد...
کتاب روایت خیلی ساده ای داشت ولی خط داستانی خیلی قوی. اینطور بگم که قاتل، مقتول و آلت قتل معلومه ولی چرایی قتل معلوم نیس. داستان از همین چرایی شروع میکنه هی برمیگرده عقب، هی سوال هایی میپرسه که خواننده با خودش میگه اعع راس میگه چرا به ذهن خودم نیومد. انقدر دنبال علت و معلول میگرده که در نهایت برمیگرده به کانون همه اتفاقات. به نقطه ای از داستان که همه چی شروع میشه.
این اولین کتاب جنایی هست که میخونم و بشدت راضی بودم ازش. البته جنایی-روانشناختی هست. برا همین خیلی خوشم اومد.
