Not A Devil

Can you believe fairies are real? And when something bad happens to you, your ghost sits on the moon? Or how religion can sometimes be just as evil as the atrocities it barks against? Ireland is old country, full of green hills and bluebells, but also full of Catholic woes against the people. This book covers the Irish Mafia, fairies with gray eyes, and all things in between. It is an HEA, but to get there is pretty dark.

I really liked the beginning where the book shows their childhood. The book kept me engaged until around the 80% mark, it lost me with all the brotherhood thing.

Darby was American but her mother was from Ireland. They'd visit Ireland every year for Darby's grandpa and Darby would play with Kellen, an orphan boy who was under the local priest's care. Kellen was being abused but because of his father's bad reputation, no one noticed or cared about him. There was a fantasy/mythology aspect to the story where a lake spirit bonded Kellen and Darby together in a fated-mates kind of way.

Fast forward, Darby's mom died and she was sent to live with her deadbeat dad. She couldn't afford plane tickets and thought Kellen died in a fire that she read on the news. Darby got engaged to an abusive attorney and brought him along to Ireland when her grandpa passed. The attorney was going to rape her when Kellen showed up and killed him. Kellen was in a crime ring brotherhood thing so he was hesitant in dragging Darby along with him to be on the run. But they ended up going together, and in the process of trying to get new identities, enemies popped up--and that's when the story lost me because it just wasn't riveting anymore.

a nicely darkened read

I would say that this is a nicely darkened read. It isn’t very dark, in my opinion, but I enjoyed it and all the words with it. BB Easton has a way with writing. Good read

i thought i wasn’t going to like this book but i ended up loving it! darby and kellan have made my heart absolutely melt. their love was so pure.

this is a book you need to read the trigger warnings if you are easily triggered with topics like rape, domestic violence, sexual assault, etc..

safety:
virgin hero (sexually abused as a child by the priest. he has a hard time being touched below the waist but he overcomes his fears with the heroine. mention he has kissed a few other women during the 8 year separation but he couldn’t kiss for more than a few seconds because of flashbacks. he didn’t go any further than that :)
heroine was raped when she was 13. i believe kellan is the first time she had consensual sex or sex she enjoyed. in the book it mentions sex with kellan didn’t feel like a chore (like it had in her past) it felt fun.

overall i truly enjoyed this book and i would definitely recommend it. just check the TW’s first!

Okay.. so i went into this thinking theres a hot man on the cover so it’s clearly just going to be a super smutty ride but boy was i wrong. What a sad yet sweet adventure that was! I enjoyed the story and how it effortlessly convinced me to make my next trip Ireland.

"Devil of Dublin" by B.B. Easton surpassed my expectations in the best possible way. While I’ve enjoyed Easton's writing in the past, I wasn't sure what to expect from this dark romance steeped in Irish folklore, but it turned out to be an enthralling and unforgettable read.

Easton's skillful storytelling shines through as she weaves together the fantastical elements of Irish folklore with the gritty realities of a dark romance. The narrative is both gripping and lyrical, capturing the reader's imagination and emotions from the first page. The characters are well-developed, particularly Kellen, whose tortured soul and complex personality make him an intriguing and captivating anti-hero.

The book is a rollercoaster of emotions, with moments of suspense, heartache, and passion. Easton's writing is both evocative and compelling, drawing you into the story and making it hard to put down. The blend of dark subject matter with fairy-tale-like romance creates a unique and engaging reading experience.
