I devoured this book. It was so good.  I found myself remembering pieces of FBAA which is nice and I still feel like there was new info even though we have an idea how things play out. Nyktos is everything. I love him and Sera is great a bit hot-headed and impulsive which can be a little frustrating at times but overall pretty great. The absolute bomb drop at the end was crazy. So much important info and so much to be scared of and look forward to!

Very standard JLA in terms even of personality of MCs and romantasy tropes. Still her books are always enjoyable, easy, and entertaining.

It took me a bit to get into this book. I’d pick it up and put it down because it didn’t click with me. About half way through it started picking up the pace and I was far more interested. The ending was packed full of information and felt a bit rushed. The general unfolding of story lines and plot points was interesting. The main characters were confused and frustrated with misunderstandings and it was written in a way that made me frustrated right along side them. 3.5 because when it did hit, it hit hard. Reading the next book ASAP.

A solid start to this spinoff series. Although some phrases like ‘lip curled’ need to be retired from being used so much.

I found this story engaging and entertaining and was left wanting more - there's no doubt JLA is a great storyteller.

However, this story was very familiar. Almost verbatim of FBAA (yes, I know it's a prequel/part of the main series). There was a part where Sera sees a dead baby and is like ~if anything ever hurts any of my descendents I'll annihilate them~... It took away from the story imo.

Moreover, some of the writing itself wasn't the best and would take you out of the story as you're reading it...
