This trilogy was something I will always remember. It’s about a hockey town but it’s really just about life. It has SO MANY quotable life lessons. It’s heartbreak and love and loss. It’s moving on. A masterpiece whose world-building rivals any good fantasy novel only this isn’t fantasy. It’s you, me, and all of us.

I think this was my favorite book from the series, although I read them one after the other so they blended together a bit. I do think that this book could have been a bit shorter, but I loved Beartown and the characters so much that I didn’t mind. I think that the Beartown series as a whole are my favorite books that I have read from Backman so far.

I’ve loved all of the Beartown books, but this one wrecked me. They’re so, so good.

I don’t know… I’m surprised I didn’t like the second and third book of this series more. I think I like this one more than the second one. But neither of them gripped me like the first book!

This was a great ending to an excellent trilogy. Did it need to be written? No. Am I glad it was? Yes. Though it could perhaps have been a little shorter. That said, I had become so invested in the residents of Beartown and Hed that I was more than happy to spend some more time with them. There's no big reveal, some of what happens is fairly clearly signposted as you read, but that adds something for me, rather than detracts - I think it highlights the inevitability of life, and that it definitely isn't all sugar-coated. No spoilers from me, and the only reason I'd dock it a half star if I could is for the number of new characters introduced with little backstory and a need to fit them in relatively quickly. One of the beauties of the first two books was the background-building of key characters, we came to know and love them, and even though these new ones are secondary, they still feel a little shoe-horned in at times. It was always going to be a challenge to write a new Beartown book that lived up to the first two, and don't get me wrong, this is very definitely a success, it just didn't quite reach the heights of those originals. However, this is still a beautiful book, and one I'm glad to have spent time on.

Beartown has such a special place in my heart. I truly love this trilogy and these characters. One of my favorites this year.
