A delightful story with some slow parts and over-pontificating by the narrator but a lovely family tale from the perception of the dog. The ending just warmed my heart.

What a great book! Adorable, funny, heartwarming. Devoured it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Awesome book. You can't help but to keep turning the pages.
This book is written from a dog's point of view, and was probably one of the best books I've read. From the very beginning of it I kept getting tears in my eyes and had to stop reading to control myself sometimes. It puts what dogs see and hear into perspective, and I absolutely loved it! Warning though, it is DEFINITELY a tear-jerker. I just finished it a little bit ago and am still sniffling.
The author is amazing, and did a great job of putting what a dog's thoughts probably are, onto paper, as if the dog, Enzo, truly wrote it himself.

Did not expect to like this book, but I couldn't wait to read it every night. Yes, a dog is telling the story but it only takes about 30 pages to suspend disbelief. The writing is fairly tight and the storytelling is not as sentimental as I expected-- though you can smell the major motion picture a mile away. The story is set in Seattle and goes a little overboard on the geography-dropping, but as a Seattle native I did enjoy the indulgence.
I got 133 pages in and decided it is not worth it for me to finish. I just did not like this book. It felt patriarchal in the writing and any cleverness or endearing feelings from it being the perspective of the dog didn't cut it.
I finished this book in two days. Maybe it’s anthropomorphic. But no matter. Seeing the world from this wise dog’s point of view has forever changed the way I look at animals — and I’m a huge animal lover. Lovely writing & masterful storytelling
