Reread this.Still love the first half and the end. Heartwarming and cute.!! The middle with the in-law drama ruined the book. 5 stars if that wasn’t there. Could have had so many other middle story lines.
I honestly thought that the use of a dog as a narrator would get old pretty fast, but it somehow doesn't in this story. A great story of friendship and loyalty between man and dog.
I once had a teacher that told our class that she rarely gave out A's because it left us with nothing to improve upon. I wish that I could take back every 5-star rating I have ever given so that I could give them to this novel and this novel alone.
I'm sure that this novel had flaws but I couldn't see them through my tears. For example, could Enzo have been portrayed a bit more as a traditional dog instead of this wise monk? Absolutely. Does his portrayal as a philosopher take away from the novel? Absolutely not.
This novel was absolutely outstanding. The extended metaphor of racing (in the rain) and life was executed perfectly.

Have you ever wanted to start crying and never stop? Well, this is the book for you.
Best ending to a book that I have read in a very long time. I'm not usually a fan of non-fiction books but this one was great. Very entertaining and creatively written from the perspective of a dog.
What’s not to love about Enzo? Hearing a story through the mind of a dog means it will be straight forward, earnest, and full of love and loyalty.
Dogs are better than most people. reading this just cemented that into my brain. loved reading from the POV of Enzo, because as a dog owner I find myself always wondering what they're thinking. this just brings that all to life and more.
