I'm kind of amazed that the anime must have covered about the first three volumes of MHA, and at the bookstore I saw up to eight volumes available. Usually these kinds of stories are dragged out, so I'm glad that it's progressing at a good clip.

Mis respetos para Aizawa sensei...

First big battle with the real world villains! A ton of dudes sneak into the Rescue Dome Practice Arena (whatever it's called) and split up the kids - it's the first extended showing of how superheroing works, and a chance to see more of all the kids and their powers.

(this volume is MOST of the rest of season 1 - there's a few chapters in the next volume, I think, that wrap it up. I'm still really glad I watched the anime - I cited not wanting to spend several hours watching one battle when I could read it in significantly less, but they do a great job of bringing everyone to life and emphasizing their unique abilities, and I'm trying to use that to measure how carefully to read going forward into the unknown).

It's possible I was born too old for this nonsense, but I keep cheering for Momo, #1 in the class and super smart, to make it through and be highlighted as the interesting character that she is.

But in with what the manga is actually doing: yaaay Deku and his "mutter mutter mutter" sense of strategy!! He's a baby general in the making.

Ongoing: ugh why
